Ollie is 10 months old and today he has been to his first rock concert! Before anyone starts secretly judging… It was his cousin Tom’s first performance! Tom goes to Birmingham Rock School and is learning to play guitar and he had his first ever live gig today! He played at The River Rooms in Stourbridge just outside Birmingham.
Birmingham Rock School is based in south Birmingham and runs classes for kids and adults for singing and learning to play instruments. Tom also plays keyboard and drums but this is mostly taught by my younger sister who is a really good drummer! Tom hasn’t been going for very long but he is really good! He is one of the youngest (if not the youngest) in the school. When they called his band up they said ‘Little Tom’ because there are a few Toms! Tom is always the smallest because he’s just so cool and brave. (I’ve talked more about Ollie’s cousins in The Pizza-Over.) He has no fear and he’s never embarassed. Tom was the smallest on all the rollercoasters at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, the smallest on the climbing wall on a holiday camp and now he is little Tom at rock school.
Tom’s band played 3 songs; Status Quo ‘Rockin’ All Over The World’, Jamilia ‘Superstar’, and Avril Lavine ‘Complicated’.
Tom is a little superstar and Ollie is a really good boy! He was so good all through the concert, the only time he made a noise was when the organiser asked everyone to be quiet for a solo song and Ollie shouted! She said, “Except you!”
Ollie was very happy to be able to utilise his new clapping skills. He was clapping all the way through like a little groupie.
Then it all got a bit much. “Maybe I’m just too young for this rock star lifestyle…”
