We’ve recently had a lovely week in Spain, an all inclusive package holiday with Jet2. We stayed at Oasis Park in Salou which is a perfect family resort and the hotel has recently been renovated and it really shows! It looks so fresh and new and there was constantly somebody cleaning something. The hotel has 6 floors and 3 lifts. The lifts were the only thing I have to complain about although this isn’t the hotel’s or Jet2’s fault – it is just people are vile and rude and understand what they want to understand! We were on the 5th floor and had to walk down 5 flights of stairs a few times with two little boys and pushchairs because people are lazy and selfish!
There are 4 pools, one large pool, one whirlpool, one kids paddling pool with a little slide and a kids mini waterpark with pool and pirate ship with two mini flume slides. We loved the pool area and spent every afternoon by the pool. We went out of season so it was easy to get a good spot and a parasol to keep Ted in the shade.
There is a large indoor bar area and outdoor seating area both with a little stage where they hold regular entertainment such as mini disco, dance shows and jugglers. The restaurant is on the lower ground floor and the food was really good. I personally love going all inclusive because I’m not particularly fussy about food and I’ve studied food hygiene several times so I know when food is safe! There was a grill counter where all meats were cooked fresh and fresh pasta served. Salad bar, bread table, dessert table and a hot hold area with veg and there was always a fish option and some type of pre cooked meat.
Our room was really big with a clean bathroom and big balcony over looking the pool of the neighbouring hotel but you can upgrade your room to overlook the pool of this hotel.
I’ve flown with Jet2 before but this was my first package holiday with them. I have already booked a package holiday with them for next summer! It is a budget and family friendly brand which is perfect with young kids.
The staff were great on the flight, they made sure I had everything I needed for Ted and helped with the infant seatbelt and told me where I can find the baby change.
The airport processes were bad and I was tempted to complain but I think it was more likely a fault of the airport rather than Jet2 specifically. There was a technical error with the computer systems and it was taking ages to check everybody in and some bags were being manually tagged, as a result there was a baggage error that caused a 1.5 hour delay – not ideal with a 9 month old and 3 year old but we coped after Ollie trying to get off because he was bored!
The return was very quick and efficient but then there was a 1.5 hour delay getting bags returned – including pushchairs which meant I was holding Ted and hand baggage – you don’t realise how heavy your kids are until you have to carry them for a prolonged period. Ollie ended up sitting watching the iPad to stop him running off!
But despite the baggage issues we had a wonderful holiday and were sad to come back! Ollie had to be bribed with a trip to Nanny’s because he didn’t want to leave holiday. The Jet2 staff were helpful and friendly and although there were problems they dealt with it and kept us informed. The hotel was great and gives me hope that our hotel will be fab next year if they only select top rated hotels. The coach transfer was short and efficient, the rep and coach driver were very helpful. I’ve given the hotel 4 stars on Trip Advisor – it lost a star because of the lift situation!
