Being a Mom truly is one of the most rewarding roles a woman can have. Everything changes in your life but everything is better. People always say you forget what life was like before you had a baby and you really do! You also forget that you’re not as cool as you think you are because you can complete simple tasks. Remember when you used to just do housework without navigating the vacuum around nap time? Remember when you used to stand in the shower just thinking about what you’d do if you won the lottery? Remember when you could sleep without waking up every five minutes just to look at your sleeping baby even though he’s absolutely fine? I don’t miss my pre-baby days but I have noticed that I think I’m pretty cool when I complete a simple job… and keep my baby safe and occupied at the same time! Here’s just a few of my day to day moments when I feel the need to do a Sporty Spice style air kick just because I’m that cool. (Spice Girls are still cool right? 😉 )
Thinking you’re a badass mom when…
You execute a successful hug and roll and your baby stays asleep. I have to crawl away like a commando but he’s peacefully asleep and I don’t have a dead arm anymore… I kick ass!
You change a poo nappy without getting any in your nails. It’s all contained within the nappy. Boom! Air kick!
You slept through the night for the first time.. What day is it? Where am I? Why is it light outside? This must be how Sleeping Beauty felt.
You fit back into your old jeans. Ignore the muffin top, they’re on and now I think I belong on a catwalk. There’s a woman power 70’s anthem playing in my head… “Got to be real, got to be real…”
You go to a baby activity and your baby is quiet when all the others are crying. Try not to do a smug face, try not to do a smug face.
You get all your laundry done in a day. That’s right, six loads in one day! And no, I didn’t leave my baby with my mom today!
You have a shower and think you’ve been on a spa weekend and had a drastic makeover because you didn’t have to get out with one shaved leg or conditioner in your hair.
